April 2007

Hello Folks,

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy spring season…for those of us that have been blessed with the honor of shoveling snow, cleaning rock salt out of the cars fenders, etc. It’s such a “wonderful” time of year!!! I DO look forward to the warm months ahead, when the flowers are in bloom for a while, relieving us of the drudgery of ice, rain and snow.

In the meantime, keep reading the articles and learning as much as you can about Rockman equipment. One key thing to remember is that if you cannot get your Rockman rig to sound good, there are only two possible scenarios. 1) There is something wrong with one or more of your modules or 2) You are probably doing something wrong. The Rockman line can be quite problematic at times, but when it gets dialed in, WHAM, now that's the PerfectSound I was trying to get!

One note to remember with the Rockman equipment is that if your guitar has single coil pickups and not double coil/humbuckers pickups, you will experience more frustration in trying to achieve a low-noise, quality sound. The Rockman equipment was designed specifically for dual coil/humbucker pickups. Tom Scholz uses the DiMarzio Super Distortion DP100 humbucker pickup exclusively in the bridge position on his Les Paul’s. (Note: It’s not the DiMarzio Super 2 or 3 pickup.) In addition, one could use the DiMarzio Dual Sound DP101 pickup for series-parallel or single-coil operation for when a single coil sound is desired. It’s basically the Super Distortion DP100 with a mini switch included.

The fact is, every Rockman rig can and WILL sound awesome if put together properly. There is a wealth of knowledge on this site detailing and/or discussing all things Rockman. Please learn it as if it were a science. As a matter of fact, considering the source of this equipment…it IS a science.

As for doing refurbs, many of you know that life has thrown a few curve balls my way, making it almost impossible for me to sink my teeth into anything but my day job, which has actually been anything BUT a day job. My schedule has been very prohibitive, to say the least. This makes it extremely hard for me to focus on anything let alone refurbs. In other words, if I can’t focus on doing the best job that I can…I won’t do it. I do hope that I can get back into it. I realize there are a lot of you who have been asking for my services and I can’t help but to feel really proud of the work we’ve done up to this point.

Rickster, my partner and web guru, has done an awesome job in keeping things ticking while I work out the difficult details of life!! He will be bringing about new items and goodies as R&D time and funding allows. I’ve got nothing but tons of gratitude for him and everyone else that has kept the faith. And speaking of faith, I have to say that it all begins there!!! Faith has brought many changes, challenges and blessings in my life. Take it from one of the biggest control freaks around…it’s not easy putting your life in God’s hands.

Have a great spring and an even greater summer everyone! Rock On, fellow Rockmeisters!!!

Best Regards, David Accomando
